Sports Review

The Oklahoma City Thunder are one of the NBA’s hottest team. Currently sitting at the third position of the Western Conference standings. After a disappointing first half of the season, the team has worked hard to get back on track and possibly challenge for the NBA title.

All the trade rumours and speculation were put to an end when the trade deadline had elapsed last week, with 14 of the league’s 20 deals happening on the final day. On that note, here we take a look at how the Thunder fared during this year’s trade window:

Last July, OKC Thunder re-signed Paul George on a four-year contract worth $137 million and moved out Carmelo Anthony. That huge sum now looks like a bargain for the team as Paul has become the front runner for the MVP Award and has linked up well with Russell Westbrook, averaging 28.7 points per game.

Book Review

About Ibong Adarna. Ibong Adarna is a mythical story, formed in narrative song and poetry called corrido and considered a big part of the Philippine literature, usually studied as part of the secondary curriculum in the country. The author of this fantastic story still remains unknown and uncertain. Some said that the author was Spanish because it has been written when the Spaniards ruled the Philippines. During those times, Ibong Adarna was known as Corrido at Buhay na Pinagdaanan nang Tatlong Principeng Magcacapatid na Anac nang Haring Fernando at nang Reina Valeriana sa Cahariang Berbania. Other critiques said that it has been written by Jose dela Cruz, a great poet here also known as Huseng Sisiw. This amazing folklore is about love, sacrifice and fantasy. Ibong Adarna literally means Adarna Bird. The story centers about catching the mythical bird that possesses magical powers. The Adarna bird is so beautiful and could change in a lot of stunning forms. It is very much hard to catch. It knows a total of seven songs which could either enchant anyone to sleep, turn into stone or heal a deadly sickness. Which is why the almost dying King Fernando of Berbania tasked his three sons to catch the magical bird. That’s where the story begins.

Music review

As the world is getting worse, some people concerned what happened their homes. From a paradise world, now we search for the perfect word. I don’t know what happened the human race, why you slowly torn our precious place, as the song says,

“Heal the world, Make it a better place, For you and for me, And the entire human race, There are people dying, If you care enough for the living, Make it a better place, For you and for me”

It is better to help each other, for a better and brighter future. It’s not yet over my fellow human being, I would like to show you more lyrics of a song “Where is the Love by Black Eyed Peas”

” Whatever happened to the values of humanity, whatever happened to the fairness in equality, instead of spreading love we’re spreading animosity, Lack of understanding, leading lives away from unity, That’s the reason why sometimes I’m feelin’ under, That’s the reason why sometimes I’m feelin’ down. There’s no wonder why sometimes I’m fellin’ under, Gotta keep my faith alive till love is found. Now ask yourself.”

These songs really gave me motivation as a true person in this world. Both songs talked about Humanism, that is really what I want to see people out there. We make our world peace, unity and freedom.

Deteriorating Performance of Students and Teachers on the Implementation of the K to 12 Program.

K to 12 (also K-12) is an education system under the Department of Education that aims to enhance learners’ basic skills, produce more competent citizens, and prepare graduates for lifelong learning and employment. “K” stands for Kindergarten and “12” refers to the succeeding 12 years of basic education (6 years of elementary education, 4 years of junior high school, and 2 years of senior high school).

On March 06, 2019 Maila Ager published about the “Deteriorating competence of Students and Teachers” it states there that “Gatchalian said that based on research, the results of the National Achievement Test (NAT) for Grace 6 and Grade  10  students in  the last two years have deteriorated.”

My opinion on this is on how the teacher handle their students properly. K to 12 program is a good implementation in our country because it allows us to be align with the other countries. But it includes there the teachers, so it means the half of being decreased down to 50% both Grade 6 and 10 is the teacher’s performance, (I’m not saying the only problem here is the teacher), also the students are included here; my theory on this is the advent of technology. Some of the student have a mobile phone, so it may be a distraction of their studies. The other one is i also “request” the subject Media Information Technology(MIL) to Grade 6 up to 10 because it helps the modern students to know more about the proper netiquette in social media, and they must know how to manage their time on social media( I really care the new people nowadays, and i realized they have lack of understanding using social media).

So it is better to the teacher to have a serious rules and regulations, and if the students are not obeying their rules, it is better to give a serious offence also. To maintain their students disciplined and professional. At the end of my thoughts, the possible solution to this issue. Is in every school under the DepEd they must have a rigidity that forbidding the students to allow mobile phone during class hour (even inside the campus it should not allowing student to expose their gadgets), and the teacher also they must educate their students to be a successful someday with all of their heart.

School Uniforms

School uniforms are good for the development of children. First of all, everyone is dressed unified. So no one has “better” clothes than others and no one can threaten others only because of their clothes. In many schools ganging up on others because of what they are wearing is already normal and uniforms are a way to protect the children from such acts. School uniforms also keep everyone from having to buy expensive brands of clothes to be part of the society, which relieves especially the parents and takes the pressure of being “cool” away from the children. School uniforms also helps to put off children being overly concerned about keeping up with the latest fashions. This gives young children more time to concentrate on more important developmental things. Of course, there are also critics, who say that school uniforms make the children lose their own individuality but in general it is possible to say, that school uniforms have a good influence on most children.

Homework is an important part of the learning process in middle school. One reason is that homework gives students additional practice of skills covered in class. Middle school classes are too short to teach a new concept and practice it sufficiently for students to master. Students need both guided practice in class and independent practice at home. Another reason for homework is that it provides time to complete longer assignments. For example, the ideal composition process allows time for students to think and to reflect on their ideas, as well as time to revise and to proofread their writing. Also, reports and special projects often require research that can not always be done at school. In addition, since all students do not work at the same speed, giving students time at home to finish work keeps them from falling behind. Finally, the most important reason for homework is that it ensures review. New material and old material are practiced in daily assignments. Students who do their homework daily are prepared for tests and make better grades. In conclusion, not only is homework essential to mastering new skills and maintaining previously learned skills, but it also guarantees constant review and provides time for longer assignments, as well as additional time for students who need it. Students, do your daily homework, make better grades, and learn more!
